New restaurants coming soon to WPB: BB King’s, Reef Road

Two of downtown West Palm Beach’s anticipated new restaurants are getting close to opening, according to sources.

Reef Road Restaurant & Rum Bar, which is located at 223 Clematis St., will be having its grand opening celebration next week. Image may be NSFW.

The company has begun a countdown to the Oct. 15 grand opening on its Twitter and Facebook pages.

The highly-anticipated seafood restaurant takes the place of restaurant and bar Clematis Social in downtown. The new restaurant is a “unique venture among owners of the other restaurants and nightclubs in the 200 block of Clematis Street,” according to Palm Beach Post columnist Alex Clough.

Cleve Mash is an owner of Dr. Feelgood’s, Monarchy and Lost Weekend clubs; Rocco Mangel is an owner of Rocco’s Tacos and Grease Burger Bar restaurants; and the Big Time Restaurant Group is an owner of Rocco’s Tacos and Grease, as well. The three are teaming up in the creation of this restaurant.

Meanwhile, a CityPlace spokeswoman has informed me that B.B. King’s Blues Club is also finally near completion. According to Kristi Peacock, the restaurant will begin accepting job applications for the new restaurant Oct. 14, and is planning to host a hiring fair at the location sometime within the following few weeks.

The CityPlace location — which is taking over the spaces vacated by Bar Louie and Legal Sea Foods — plans to hire a little more than 100 people.

No word yet on the official open date for that restaurant, but I’ll keep you posted.
